Happy 40th Birthday to Rockcliffe Nursery

On Saturday 5th November we held a special event in school to celebrate the fortieth birthday of our wonderful nursery. We were joined by lots of old and new friends, including former teachers Peter Jackson and Gillian Gray (Deputy Headteacher for many years until her retirement in 2012) who can be seen below with Lindsay Ford and Glynis Bateman.

Our old photograph albums and logbooks sparked lots of memories and it was great to be able to share these over a cup of coffee and a delicious pastry or cake. Indeed, Teaching Assistant Allison Dignam had made a very special birthday cake for the team - see below.

We were delighted to be joined by Alan Campbell MP, who can be seen below saying a few words at the event. He is surrounded by past and present members of our very popular Glee Club, who entertained the crowd with a medley of Abba hits from the seventies.

North Tyneside Elected Mayor Norma Redfearn and Paul Hanson, Deputy Chief Executive of North Tyneside Council, also joined the party. Norma can be seen below with our Chair of Governors, Mary Evans, and our amazing Nursery staff team.

Glynis Bateman, who began her career as a Nursery Nurse by helping to set up and open our nursery,  has remained with us ever since and her magnificent service has been recognised by her being shortlisted in the Evening Chronicle Champions Awards this year. We wish her the best of luck at the awards ceremony at the Biscuit Factory on 1st December! She can be seen below standing in front of our beautiful new school banner, made by our very talented Nursery Teacher Lindsay Ford.
